Freeway 49
Freeway 49 is a major north-south Open Highway Network freeway. Its southern terminus is in Mart's Extraordinarily Sublime Settlement, MESS, while its northern terminus is in Lion Land (City), Lion Land. Freeway 49 is the second longest freeway in the OHN, and also one of the oldest. Its newest section, connecting Alee Isle to Mart's Extremely Sublime Settlement was completed 2 October 2022.
Route Description
Southern
At the current terminus of Freeway 49, the freeway transitions into a local road connecting directly to the central part of the city. Going northbound, the freeway travels for 10 kb through mostly wilderness. Interchanges with local roads provide access to Forêt Québec and Hill Valley. There is also an interchange with Freeway 349, connecting to Vyxalla.
At an interchange with Highway 83 for PLC, the road picks up an additional lane and connects with Hebrith and Silicon Valley. It then connects with Freeway 10 in a major cloverleaf interchange, picking up an additional lane.
Central
At the interchange with A4 (WMS), the freeway enters Melanie City, the capital of the Kemonomimi Republic, providing access to many local roads, and becomes concurrent with Freeway 20 (OHN). At the Gateway Interchange, the freeway diverges from Freeway 20 (OHN) and intersects with Freeway 10 (OHN). The freeway then continues north through Koinu, then heads to Shishiro.
At Shishiro, the freeway intersects with Highway 86 and then continues into Lion Land (City), its current northern terminus.
Future
There are plans to expand the freeway north to Yavno.
