The 1.20.4 Update Incident was a major server incident that happened on January 5, 2024. It caused the server to crash multiple times, and the splatter map feature to not work on the ImageOnMap plugin which led to a new plugin being installed.

Cause

It was speculated by Victor that the server's disk was having issues, and there were plans to upgrade the server to a better disk.

January 5, 2024 at 11:35 UTC: Server updated to 1.20.4

January 5, 2024 at 19:00 UTC: The server performance started to drop, people speculated that it was caused by a Worldedit but it was disproved quickly.

January 5, 2024 at 19:15 UTC: Worldedit started breaking due to it not being updated.

January 6, 2024 at 07:26 UTC: Server crashed for the first time since updating.

January 6, 2024 at 08:50 UTC: Investigation for the crash started.
