The Solstan Civil War was a civil war in the Solstice Federation between the Solstice Federation and the Province of Othoroot. The central causes of the war were Solstice's oppression of the Othorites, and Othoroot extreme nationalism.

Political tensions between Solstice and Othoroot began during the Solstan civil rights movement, where many fought to ensure that kemonomimis living in Solstice had essential human rights that had been denied for months. The central protest took place in Firefly outside of the Voting Hall, which saw Dozhda enact a law to protect kemonomimis heavily, and eventually saw the classification of kemonomimis as human with the passing of the Animal Rights Act.

Othoroot immediately retaliated against this act by creating the Civil Defense Program, a program designed to allow volunteers to "help defend [Othoroot] by being placed along [Othoroot's] border with other provinces and defend from any unwanted invasions." The federal government sued Othoroot on grounds of it violating the Right to Travel provided in the Third Federal Constitution, and Article 21, which explicitly provides only the federal government the right to form a military. The Supreme Court of the Solstice Federation heard arguments, and later ruled in favor of Solstice, writing that "the Defendant violated Section V, Article XXI of the Constitution, which grants the federal government the sole right to hold military power."

A few days later, Othoroot announced the Freedom Plus Act, which allowed anyone to pay a monthly fee to not have provincial law apply to them. Prime Minister Raina announced that she would invoke Article 13 to enforce provincial law in Othoroot, even if the individual were to pay the fee.

Two days after that, a man later identified as Gwendolyn McMurphy, drove a tank through Sleebieville, and into Firefly, where he ran over many civilians, and blew up the Firefly-Szki hospital. When the Solstan Federal Police shot and killed him, a bomb went off, causing even more damage. 55 people were killed, and 102 more were injured, in an attack known as the 21/12 Firefly attacks. Solstice immediately blamed Othoroot, placing a travel restriction on Othoroot, and requiring that all Othorites who leave Othoroot be searched. It was discovered 8 days later that Othoroot paid McMurphy to conduct the Firefly attacks. Othoroot began censoring the news media within the province.

Later that day, the Othoroot Reform Party was created, with the goal of forcibly taking control of the Othoroot government.

Othoroot announced on 1 January that despite a court order, it would continue to use the Civil Defense Program. The Supreme Court issued an enforcement order, which the federal government enforced by sending the military to Othoroot.

During the first 2024 federal election, the Othoroot Reform Party won all of the seats in Parliament, leading Othoroot to prepare to invade the northern province of Sleebieville.

Solstice immediately placed a restriction on airspace following threats from Othoroot to bomb major cities. On 3 January 2024, Solstan forces met Othorite forces in Fernweh, Sleebieville, where the Solstan army had a major victory, pushing Othorite forces to Lavender, Sleebieville. On 4 January 2024, Solstan forces pushed Othorite forces out of Sleebieville, and began an invasion of Othoroot. During a long battle, Solstan forces eventually forced the Othorite forces to surrender, bringing an end to the Solstan civil war.

The Solstice Federation took control of Othoroot, and the Federal Parliament is now writing legislation for Othoroot until April 2024, when it will allow Othoroot to act autonomously again.
