Midcity Van Gogh Airport (MDC) is an international airport in Midcity, TAY, located roughly 300 blocks south of the Central Business District. It is the primary airport serving Midcity, and is a primary hub for Tranlines. The airport has three runways, including one elytra runway.

History

Old Midcity Airport

Midcity Airport was constructed in 2018. It had one runway and a road connecting directly to The Great Tayway.

New Midcity Airport

During late 2021, discussions about moving Midcity Airport began. It was discovered that Midcity would greatly benefit from a larger airport, given its growing population and growing importance in the TAY economy. On 28 January 2022, the old Midcity Airport terminal was demolished, and construction of two new terminals about 300 blocks south of the CBD started. Construction was completed on 29 January 2022, and the airport was opened to the public on the same day.

2024 Renovations

During August 2024, Midcity Airport went through a renovation program to improve the appearance and airport experience. Flynn was contracted to renovate the airport.

Terminals

Midcity Van Gogh Airport has two terminals.

Terminal 1

Terminal 1 is located on the western side of the airport building, and serves international passengers. The terminal has 24 gates, all served by airbridges. Four additional bus gates, named A-D are also present.

The terminal building is split into three levels. The lower level is reserved for arrivals airside, and check in landside. The first floor contains retail shops landside, and is where departing passengers enter security and immigration processing. Retail shops are also found airside, after security and immigration. The second floor consists of an observation deck, and a Contemporary Club location.

There are 8 available check-in desks in the terminal.

Renovations in mid 2023 added electronic passport gates and the second floor of the terminal.

Terminal 2

Terminal 2 is located on the eastern side of the airport building. The terminal serves all domestic flights. It features 12 gates.
