Melanie City Southwest International Airport (MSI) is an international airport in Melanie City, KR, located on Doodly Island. It is the primary airport serving Melanie City, and is a primary hub for Squid Airlines. The airport has two intersecting runways, and one jump-pad style elytra runway.

History

Beginnings

Shortly after the reopening of the bnbmc1 world in 2021, it was immediately apparent that Melanie City Discovision Intercontinental Airport was too dangerous and too small to continue being Melanie City's primary airport. On May 2021, construction began on Southwest International Airport, on an undeveloped area of Doodly Island originally intended as a residential area.

2022 Expansion

In 2022, a new international terminal was built.

2023 Expansion

On July 2023, a major expansion project was undertaken to increase capacity and bring the airport to modern standards. The entirety of Doodly Island was expanded, runways extended, and a brand new international terminal -- Terminal B --, with 10 more gates than the previous international terminal, was built.

Terminals

Melanie City Southwest International Airport has two terminals.

Terminal A (Domestic)

Terminal A, the original terminal for the airport, is located on the northern side of the facility and serves domestic passengers. It formerly served international passengers, before the creation of the separated international terminal. It has 5 gates. The building is split into two levels. The lower level is for arrivals, and the upper level is for departures. There is also an entrance to an underground passageway to Terminal B, the international terminal.

Terminal B (International)

Terminal B is located on the southern side of the facility and serves international passengers. It has a total of 32 gates. The building has two interconnected levels. On the upper level, there are four secured concourses for departures. On the lower level, there are customs checkpoints, which must be passed to exit the building once passing the check-in area on the upper level. The shared area has retail shops and airline lounges.
